The LP was recorded at Audiocore Studio and mixed and mastered by Luca Cocconi and Simone Sighinolfi.

"Horror Vacui" is the darkest and most introspective chapter in Karmian’s evolution, a concept album built around real stories of Italian murderers and the psychological and existential void that lies behind their actions.

Each song explores a different form of inner collapse, moving through obsession, alienation, control, repression and loss of identity. Rather than focusing on crime as spectacle, the album investigates the emptiness that breeds violence and the fragile human conditions from which it emerges.

Musically, "Horror Vacui" expands Karmian’s melodic death metal language into something darker, denser and more narrative driven, blending aggression, atmosphere and storytelling into a single cohesive experience.

Released via Rockshots Records, the album marks a new step forward for the band both musically and conceptually. You can order it physically and digitally on our Bandcamp.

All the stories told in the lyrics, even when interpreted through symbols and atmosphere, are based on real events. Enter the void.

Track by track

1. One Thousand Shining Bubbles
Inspired by Sonya Caleffi, this track portrays a fragile mind collapsing under pressure, hidden behind the mask of normality and care. It is a descent into suffocated identity, where repression finally mutates into violence.

2. Beastmaster of the Void
A direct and aggressive portrait of the Bestie di Satana case, where drugs, alienation and the need to belong spiral into destruction. The song captures confusion, disorientation and the void disguised as rebellion.

3. Gott Mit Uns Nicht
Based on the Ludwig murders, this track moves between the point of view of the victims and the ideological delirium of the killers. It reflects on purity turned into extermination and on hatred masked as justice.

4. The Call of the Abyssal Bell
This song weaves together the Alleghe murders and the local legend of the submerged bell. It is a death metal tale of omertà, buried guilt and truth emerging slowly from beneath the surface.

5. Black Magical Soap Opera
Inspired by Leonarda Cianciulli, the so called soap maker, this track explores superstition, fear and maternal obsession. Domestic ritual and murder merge into a grotesque act of control against fate itself.

6. Temple of the Fleshless Goddess
A cold and merciless song inspired by Marco Mariolini and his obsession with anorexia, purity and bodily control. Here the void takes the form of a private religion built on denial, worship and annihilation.

7. Libido et Mors
The first Karmian song written entirely in Italian, inspired by the scandal of Sant’Ambrogio della Massima. Desire, mysticism and manipulation collide in a world where spiritual and carnal emptiness become one.

8. Beyond the Dream Gate of Fear
Inspired by Gianfranco Stevanin, this track enters a disturbed oneiric dimension shaped by dissociation, lust and delusion. Reality dissolves into nightmare, and the void becomes a kingdom of the mind.

9. Maker of Angels
Based on the case of Rosa Bronzo, this final track adopts the perspective of abandoned newborns sacrificed to shame and social hypocrisy. It is a closing meditation on innocence destroyed by collective silence.

Reviews

Ever Metal

Rating: 8.5/10
Quote: “This record is philosophically bleak, aurally ferocious, and curiously relevant. Absolutely crucial listening for anyone who wants their death metal to contain a modicum of substance.”

“Here’s what Karmian knows that others don’t: extreme music is most effective when it’s actually about something other than just aggression on the surface level. The comparisons to other groups, such as The Haunted, are valid, as well as the admiration shown to Kataklysm, but this band also reaches deep enough to look into some dark places without turning away from them either.”
